BA Update 11 May 2010

Following yesterdays announcement by Unite, our operational teams are currently working around the clock to finalise details of our operating schedule for the proposed strike period.  We hope to be able to start publishing our schedule later this week.

In the meantime, we are putting in place customers guidelines that will outline the options available to customers whose travel plans are affected by the planned strike by Unite.

We hope to publish these guidelines this afternoon (Tuesday 11 May).  Full details of our customer handling guidelines will be made available as soon as possible.

Advice for customers/agents

  • Thanks to the excellent support from our cabin crew at London Gatwick, all flights operating from/ to London Gatwick will be operating normally throughout the strike period
  • As will flights to/from London City
  • As such, normal conditions of carriage will apply for flights to/from London Gatwick and London City airports
  • All flights operated by our franchise, subsidiary and oneworld partners will operate normally
  • At London Heathrow we plan to operate a large part of our long haul schedule and a number of flights to every destination across our short haul schedule
  • We are also speaking to a number of carriers about leasing extra aircraft to support the short haul schedule
  • In the event we do cancel flights then the following options will be available for customers:

        - Rebook to an alternative date
        - Rebook using an agreed alternative carrier (option available via BA only)
        - Rebook to an alternative gateway
